I've never owned a Chi prior to this one, but it is identical to what is sold at a well known beauty supply store. It heats up almost instantly. I use it on dry hair, divided into sections then iron 1" at a time. With my Goldplate & my Conair, I'd have to iron at least twice. With the Chi I only have to iron once. My son uses it and his hair looks ironed even after washing it. My straightend hair usually has to be protected against light rain + humidity, but when I use this iron my hair does not curl or frizz up.

I've been using a Chi iron for 5 years now and I must admit that they get the job done. My problem is that I live in Florida and the weather... well it's not the best weather for straight hair, especially if you're naturally curly. I lost my Chi iron a couple of months ago (the one I've had for years) so I decided to get the same one. We all know they are super expensive, so when I saw the cheap prices of $65 and so on I decided to buy it here. I got it within a couple of days from the day of purchase and it worked wonders... the first two months. I was straightening my hair for a date with my boyfriend when all of a sudden it TURNED OFF!! I figured it had over heated or something so I let it cool down. Nothing. My iron hasn't worked ever since and I have it sitting in my room,completely new, and useless!! I tried to contact the seller but he/she couldn't do anything about it. My recommendation: Make sure it has warranty!!! :P

The shipment arrived very quickly! And as soon as it arrived the CHI was put to use and I have to say I was completely satisfied with the results! This Iron which comes with pre-heated settings which takes the trouble of possibly damaging your hair by burning which sometimes happens if you adjust the heat settings too high on a self-adjusted iron. Thanks to this handy little setting, daily use of this iron won't damage your hair as other irons seem to do with excessive use. Due to it's size (I purchased the 1in Iron) it can take a while to straighten your hair if you have long hair like me, but due to its size it's actually the perfect tool for doing the top of your head which can be impossible to do or even reach if you're using wide-plates. It leaves your hair feeling soft and warm which is perfect for the winter months and it also leaves it natural looking as if you had gone to a salon to get your hair blow-dried. I must admit it does not leave your hair sleek and dead straight, so if this is the effect and style you were going for you may actually want to look into Remington styling products instead. However, I am a very satisfied customer and I can see myself possibly making another CHI purchase sometime in the future!

This is one of the poorest products we have ever purchased on Amazon. We purchased it for my daughter's birthday. It worked great for two days then just stopped. It will not turn on. I suspect it's a knock off. I tried e-mailing the supplier - DiscountsJungle - and no response. So now I have to try to figure out how to get a refund. What a pain. Don't waste your time with this or with DiscountsJungle, they are both a big disappointment.

I owned a Chi previous to this purchase and loved it. When I bought this one, the pictures looked exactly the same as the one I owned so I thought I was getting a really good deal. When I got the product, it was not the same as the REAL Chi I had owned. This one is a lot lighter, has a different outlet plug, doesn't get near as hot, and pulls on your hair. Overrall, not what I thought I was getting when I bought it. I could have gone to a drug store and bought a $20 hair staightner for the same quality.
