For the ultimate, translucent "finishing touch" to your makeup, Mineral Veil melts into your skin, infusing it with softness and light, giving the look you see with a soft focus camera lens. Buff on Mineral Veil over bareMinerals Foundation to lend extra staying power. Completely sheer and ideal for all skin tones, Mineral Veil gently absorbs oil and minimizes the appearance of lines and pores without the buildup of pressed or loose powders that contain parabens, waxes, dyes and binders.

I started using Bare Escentuals because my Mother started buying it from QVC. Now their popularity is gaining and you can find it more locally than before. I got the tinted mineral veil through a kit and really liked it. The regular mineral veil is great too but what I like about the tinted veil is that it gives you a hint of healthy color that not everyone has on their own. If you pick a lighter shade of because you have a fair complexion don't worry that it will make you too dark - like a bronzer may. This gives you a sun kissed look.
Acne prone skin- This is not good for u December 12, 2006 K.Sabby 70 out of 76 found this review helpful
If you have acne prone skin, this is not the finishing product for you because it is 90% corn starch, and this is a huge NO NO for acne. Corn starch breeds bacteria, which causes inflamation-Acne. It's odd that BM would use corn starch, and bill themselves as "good for skin". Sheer miracle makes a great finishing powder that is matte, and consists of the mineral serecite, which is less aggravating to skin. Sheer Miracle also makes this amazing blush (in apricot)that reminds me of Mallys' blush, but is much better for your skin. The SM apricot blush alos does not contain bismuth oxide, which tends to settle in creases, and makes skin look older. SM's foundation lacks coverage of BM.
Another mineral based makeup line is Everyday minerals. This does come in several choices like semi-matte, matte etc. and does not contain bismuth oxide, but also lacks the coverage of BM. Also their finishing powder isnt that great, but the soft bronzer is a nice highlighter to shallow out those chubby cheeks.
Both SM and Everyday offer sample kits for free on their website. this is a great way to try different shades.
BM also DOES have talc in it, although it is labeled as Mica- this can be a problem for acne prone skin as well, or anyone allergic to talc/mica.

I have been using this makeup line for years, and at first I didn't like it. I then found out that I wasn't doing it right to get the coverage I needed. It's important to get enough makeup in the brush. At any rate, I now love it and can't imagine using anything else. This makeup has really improved my skin over time, I have terribly oily skin and liquid foundations just turned to mud by the end of the day. Now, if I go without makeup for a few days I break out, instead of makeup breaking me out like it used to. I can't say enough about this stuff, it's great. If you use it and find you don't like it, you may want to visit with someone else who uses it or the counter because it's possible you aren't getting it quite right. That was the case with me.
Doesn't Cake August 2, 2006 Rebecca Johnson (Washington State) 37 out of 41 found this review helpful
The beauty of this product is the sheer coverage. You can literally apply this 20 times and it doesn't cake or flake off or make you look pasty like other powders. This is what you use after you apply the foundation powder and it keeps away shine and makes your skin look matte. Recently I had to be on camera and found that this powder really helped to keep my makeup set while waiting for an interview. I've seen the women wearing this on TV and their skin looked flawless. "Absorbs Oil" is an understatement. This also perfects your skin while it clears up any shine. The main ingredient is a very fine cornstarch.

Pretty good, but... July 31, 2006 Bookworm (USA) 33 out of 37 found this review helpful
I like the way it looks on my face. The only problem is that it rubs off very easily and will mess up your clothes if you're not careful. Case in point: I turned to look behind me once, which caused my chin to brush across my shoulder and some of the powder rubbed off onto my shirt. It left a big beige streak.
